Insurance is only as good as your agent Dave Johnson is the best.

I agree with all of the other reviews here. This insurance is garbage! They paid the entire claim for a CT scan for my child a month and a half ago, and told me I only owed $50 for something that wasnt covered. And I was thrilled. And I double checked with the hospital, and they said Dakotacare paid in full. But. today I received a bill from the hospital stating that we owed over $2600. Turns out, Dakotacare changed their mind last week and decided not to pay the bill at all.

When I called them today they stated that we didnt get preauthorization. And I told them to look in their call log and they found the hospital called for preauthorization 2 days before the CT scan. And I asked why they said we didnt get preauthorization. And her response was "we just changed our minds, okay. This is the insurance you signed up for, deal with it!" Screw you!

I am glad I changed companies. I hope these SOB's go out of business! I forgot to mention that they always raised our deductables and co-insurances without telling us. In one year we went from 500/500 to 2500/5000, without anyone saying a word. No letters, nothing.

I received approval from Dakotacare before I went to the doctor. After I received the bill for the pre-approved visit, Dakotacare denied coverage. Cool! I even have an email to prove that I asked for permission. They don't care. DakotaDon'tCare?

I was forced into this insurance because it was the only one offered at SDSU back when i was working there. Costs were high, care was hard to access (had to go to sioux falls for specialists), and coverage was utter cr@p.

Terrible insurance. Out dated company, not innovative in any policy or procedure, for your health's sake go elsewhere! They fight you on everything!

Cannot believe they "leave town for meetings and only "Dave" the rep stayed behind sorry." Sooo this company advertises all over TV and Radio spending thousands of their customers dollars branding themselves these past few weeks and so we finally call to get "our free quote" and 1st thing we get told this, get to talk to no-one knowledgeable, and had to end up leaving a message, nice first impression eah, but hey you know DAVE is the ONLY rep there so we oblige and leave the message.

Well then 2 days go by. nothing, call again, same excuse of no one here but Dave, and again sent to Voicemail left message, and another day goes by we call again and still no one is available to give us a quote and explain the various options that Dakotacare offers. We're now thinking that this is a very small co-op that is struggling to find its identity and has put too many irons into a fire they cannot control, time to head to the BBB and be heard, we've been told that they tend to be pretty good at getting businesses to answer questions!
