We accept ACH payments via phone or online using the routing/transit and account numbers from your U.S.-based checking or savings account. We also accept checks, money orders and cashier's checks. In addition, we are an electronic recipient for online bill payment providers, listed as "UNIVERSAL PROPERTY & CASUALTY INSURANCE". At this time we do not offer the option to schedule future-dated payments through our website.

My Adjuster does not respond to my calls or reply to my emails. I'm totally left in the dark about my claim. I understand at times things get busy but at least have the common courtesy to follow up with me. Im not not sure what level of customer service your adjusters are held accountable to but my experience has been Can I switch my adjuster to one of the names I see in the positive reviews that say their person was extremely helpful & resolved their issue?!

Yesterday was the second time Mariecarmel Michel helped me resolving my customers concerns. Marie Carmel was the best. She went beyond to provide all the necessary information and help that my clients were in need of. She knows pretty well the system and was very accurate. She is courteous and very patient. I am praying that all the representative agents at Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company are filled with the same enthusiasm and care as Marie Carmel Michel. I had a grease fire that started in the kitchen and completely damaged the entire home. I called the University Property & Casualty Insurance Company and they sent someone out right away. My adjuster name is Adam Feinstein and I was very blessed to have him because his customer service superb. Adam did a thorough walk through of the entire home, the roof of residence, and the crawl space and basement. Adam left no issue unaddressed and he was very respectful and helpful when communicating with me. I would recommend this service to anyone. Thank you so much Adam you are the best.

I can't even give this company a 1 star review. Like others have said, customer service is HORRIBLE. I have been dealing with a claim since July 2021 and they aren't wanting to pay even half of what the claim is. I've got plenty of documentation to back up my claim and reaching out to their company. My latest phone call was today leaving a message for the 2nd time in a week because the rep did not return my call last Thursday, when it was requested. Instead, she decided to email me.
I can't even get a contractor out here to do the job now because they are so far booked and I've been having to wait for another check for 2 months now, which still is not enough to even put down a down payment for the contractor. If these issues do not get resolved soon, I will be filing a complaint with the SC Insurance Commissioner's office and getting an attorney to handle it all. Pics are my master bath that has had a hole going to under my house for 4 months now.

Good value, good service, prompt response. I had wind/water damage and had to do repairs immediately. I contacted Universal and they sent out an appraiser within a week. They inspected the damage and repairs and honored my claim. Not sure why so many negative reviews but I have found them to be a good company.

Jake H was so very helpful, I had to leave the most positive review. It is rare to get a solid answer from almost any insurance company, much less, find an employee willing to go above and beyond for multiple client issues during 1 phone call. Jake was a tremendous help and taught me a few things I didn't realize about the company coverage provided.
I can stop wasting calls for questions with certain issues on the underwriting side with the valuable information he provided. Being in the insurance industry for 20+ years, I had the most positive and knowledgeable experience with Jake today. He resolved my issues and explained some guidelines to help me determine if I should place business, or not, with Universal. I look forward to having him resolve any issues in the future. My experience with this company has been awful. I filed a claim in January due to snow storm damage. An adjusted came out that didn't do his job fully. They claimed to sent me a check a couple days after the adjuster came out and I have yet to receive the check and it's been a month and a half. The check amount was no where near what I needed to take care of the damage.
I've called several times to customer service, the adjuster, and other employees but I've gotten no help and they don't seem to care about this disappointing experience I've had. No one returns your call and follows up appropriately. I will be finding another insurance company. I do not recommend this company to no one. It shouldn't be this much of a hassle to get services that you pay for.

I work with insurance companies all the time and they usually get a bad rap. They don't only have your claim to deal with but hundreds so please give people time so they can address your issues correctly. I spoke with a gentle man by the name of Derwin McCarthy and helped me more on this claim that I am working on than anyone else. Good guy and Universal is lucky to have him!

DONT BUY this insurance, if you don't want to have to take out a mortgage for $200K+ of water damages' repairs. If I could give them a ZERO I would. It has been about that much $ since my claim and I haven't received a penny. They denied the claim in its entirety, even though I also had $ 10K of mold damage and plenty of insurance available to pay for this huge loss.
It is a shame that the "Property Brothers" aren't making enough money that they have to do commercials for this horrible business. They claim that if there is damage going on inside your walls and there is no evidence of damage going on, there is no coverage, even if you find it. So one or more pipes could have a pin hold leak - which my Polybutylene pipes had (BOOOO SHELL OIL) - behind the master bath vanity, behind the tile in my shower -both at the plumbing supplies- plus one that came up from the middle of the kitchen sink cabinet floor (it wasn't inside the wall, but couldn't be seen, as it was under the "floor" of that cabinet, and these leaks ran under the ceramic, vinyl & laminate floors, remaining unseen in hose locations, until flooring, shower, baseboard, tile, cabinetry, drywall, were all removed; the result was unseen water destroying the master bath & kitchen cabinetry, pantry, wood work, continuous & kitchen laminate flooring, drywall, etc).

Please save yourself the trouble. We chose universal because our previous insurance company raised our premium by $1,000 even though we never made a claim. We finally had to make a claim due to having a pipe collapse and water back up in our home. We called the company and was told that we had an adjuster who would be contacting us. that was about two and a half weeks ago.
We have called the adjuster Joe Borden about 25 times and left messages with no response. We have called Universal, as well as Prodigy, which is the company they use for their adjusters. It has been a complete and utter disappointment. Today we spoke with Kalene, who said she would get in contact with Mrs. Singleton, who will contact us, to find out why the adjuster, Joe Borden, is not contacting us.
We have paid out policy in full through our escrow account, so there is no reason for them to not honor their end of the deal. Pay more money for better service. If I could give zero stars I would. This company is absolutely horrible. You get the run-around, no one calls you back, and they lie. They said they called me. I have no missed calls and no messages.
Then when I asked what email they had on file, they said well it's not a correct email. I had to ask four times for them to tell me what email they had on file and they tell me knees. com. My husband is a very mild mannered person. But he is upset. I have never had an experience like this in my life. I will definitely be going elsewhere. They should not even be in business.

My family and I experienced a house fire back in July 2021. Loosing our home was very traumatic, but we are grateful for life. However, our desk adjuster Bryan Connor, helped get us on the road to recovery and rebuild. He thoroughly explained the process and necessary steps that needed to be taken and was there to answer any questions and concerns that I may have had.
We did have one small hick-up that pushed our rebuild back by a month (bummer), but Bryan researched the issue and resolved it as quickly as he could. Long story short, Bryan did a great job and was professional, even during the times I was frustrated. He brought me back down from 10 to 2. I would definitely recommend him and UPCIC to others.

I experienced a house fire. The entire ordeal was traumatic to say the least, but I am truly thankful for Bryan Conner. He walked me through the entire process from beginning to end. His professionalism and knowledge helped me tremendously through this major disaster. He exemplifies customer service and action. He constantly stayed in contact and followed up with emails, I never felt alone in through this tragedy. He is kind, knowledgeable and extremely patient, making sure I understood the process and what to expect at each stage. He is absolutely the BEST!

I have been dealing with the customer service reps for this company since June on a claim that was made in February. All of the reps have been very nice but I found Derwin the one who cared the most, listened to me, made sure he understood what my need was and did as much as he could to assist me. He was very kind, knowledgeable, and showed that he cared.
I wish I could say the same for Andres Gonzalez who has not been responsive to calls or emails at all. Not just to myself but also to the project manager from Rapid Response who has sent him many emails that there was no response to. Thank you to Derwin for the help! It is truly appreciated!

We have had a claim pending for many months. Every time we think we have submitted everything requested, the adjuster comes up with another "request" before claim can be evaluated. All of the information has been uploaded for months, and the company WILL NOT RESOLVE OUR CLAIM. We have paid our premiums and we have complied with all requests. I'm merely requesting the insurance company honor their end of the contract. Instead, they keep finding ways to avoid its obligations.

No one ever wants to have to use their homeowners insurance; but, my wife & I did have to use ours. Our home was massively damaged by trees in June of 2021. Andrea Richards was absolutely amazing throughout the process. She made sure that our claim was processed quickly & fairly. In fact my wife actually enjoys speaking to Andrea, something you don't expect when dealing with insurance! Andrea helped us get set up with alternative living arrangement, storage for our belongings, and even a second claim once repairs on our home started & more damage than was expected was discovered.
I feel confident if we have to live in our temporary accommodations longer than the estimated 7 months that Andrea will help us get that taken care of as well. Overall, I am very thankful Universal has a claims agent like Andrea Richards.

As an agency owner, I write business for UP&C and other carriers, but am not involved in the claims process. Earlier this year, however, I had the unfortunate experience of helping my 84 year old father and my step mother, who are both battling health issues through the claims process. They lost their house and all their belongings and prized possessions in a fire.

Paid my policy in full, thought all was good, called about 11 months later just to find out I have been canceled because of "non payment". No phone call, email or anything from them. I had no idea until I called and was gong to renew my policy! during the 10 months with no coverage we had a tornado 2 blocks away and a few close calls with hurricanes.
Then too top it off, been a year waiting on the $ they said I didn't pay just to have they say they have mailed it to me twice! Please shop somewhere else, buyer beware these people are shady and will lie lie lie!

I added another star to my review because the company finally did what was right, but only after I posted my original one star review on here. Amazing how quickly things got done once that happened. You have opportunities to be heroes everyday to people. Customers who have paid premiums for years without any claims are suddenly dealing with a minor or major catastrophe, and you have the ability to be a huge positive to those people.
But not when they have to hire an independent adjuster to get an amount from you that will actually pay to repair the damage. When that happens, you're not being the positive actor in their lives. Or when you tell them "7 t 10 days" but do nothing to resolve the situation for 6 months. You can do better, as evidenced by your actions after my first review. Perhaps, since management was able to handle the situation so quickly, management should ask themselves if the people working for them are being properly motivated, or if they are all actually required. [ END EDIT] Well over 2 years since the claim was made, and while they issued a check, it was made out to the wrong party.
In May they said it's no big deal, it happens all the time, and it would be 7 to 10 days to reissue the check. I'm sure they are better at counting their money than they are at counting how many days it's been since May (over 150 days now). Nothing but hassles and lies from these grifters. If I could give zero stars I would. You'd be better off burying your money in your backyard than giving it to this company.

I spoke with Todd Hanna who then forwarded me to the supervisor, Natasha Davidson and they were both friendly and professional. I needed to voice a concern I had with the process of canceling my policy since I had already secured insurance through another company with my new agent and Natasha was very helpful with my concern and answered all of my questions and helped me understand their process. I've had this company as an insurance provider for almost 4 years and this is the first time I've needed to contact customer service and Natasha and Todd did a great job!
