Our company was founded in 1887, six years after the great Chicago Fire, to help churches protect their property.

After the ravages of the fire, many insurance companies refused to insure churches with large steeples or charged the owners unbelievably high rates, as large steeples attracted lightning.

A year into buying our house and selecting badger mutual as our insurance carrier the Derecho hit and they were amazing. Files a claim right away, made sure we were safe and okay and helped us with everything. I couldn't have asked for better! & they were very quick! I heard complaints of other high end insurance claims denying or they are still fighting Almost two years later but not badger mutal.

After the storm damage we file a claim for roof repair and it took a while for the Badger's inspector to show up, but it's all worth it because we had some issues with our roof contractor and because of those inspection report from Badger's it has helped us a lot. Thanks Quinton! The claim was smooth, we received the first paycheck after few days of inspection and their premium are lower than Progressive or GEICO.

We have been with Badger for many years. They have always been prompt with returning calls, always put our needs first and treated us with friendly customer service! We have been asked many times to switch to another company and bundle with our home insurance. But why would we leave a great company!

We recently had a claim on our home due to a sewer back up, and reached out to badger to see if our home insurance would cover the repairs. Our assigned underwriter, Alex, was very helpful working with a difficult contractor to come up with a solution. He even found a second contractor to get another opinion who fixed our problem. At the end of the day we did not have to go through with a costly repair to our sewer lateral because of Alex's persistence in finding the root of the issue.

I have had badger mutual for years. Their service is impeccable. It's very affordable and the value for money is hard to match. Having their hq in Wisconsin is great because everyone had that thick Wisconsin accent which adds a quality to the customer service that you can't get anywhere else. I would almost even say my experiences have been wholesome.

As an insurance agent and client myself, I place clients with Badger as frequent as possible. A few weeks ago I had my car stolen with a higher value set of golf clubs in it. As unfortunate as the circumstance was, John, my claims adjuster handled everything for me and made the process a breeze. Within 14 days I had a check for the claim in hand, and the only reason it took that long was due to the police department dragging their feet on the police report! I love Badger Mutual! Awesome rates, and fantastic service! Side note: Where else can you call a carrier and get a live human right away? Thanks Patty for being awesome! :

Badger Mutual is a wonderful company in our Independent Agency portfolio. At That Insurance Guy in Boise Idaho, we consider them our first stop to offer quotes for Auto, Home, and Umbrella coverage. We feel so fortunate to be able to extend Badger coverage to our clients and potential clients. Our agency is family-owned, small, and personal - and we like it that way. Badger fits our vision perfectly!

They are a no-nonsense, responsive, regional company that has been around since the 1800s. They aren't very well-known because they don't advertise heavily, passing the savings on to their customers. They respond to our every request very quickly. As an agency, we have personal representatives assigned to us that we know well and can contact them by name for anything we might need.

That valuable personalized attention is rarely found in the insurance marketplace these days. Another thing we love about them is their glass coverage. If our clients have a rock chip, they are encouraged to have it fixed up to 3 times at Badger's expense - if it doesn't effect their line of site. On the fourth, our clients pay their deductible and Badger covers a new windshield for them.

In Idaho, with many rural communities and trucks transporting aggregate and other hazards, this is a great benefit! Badger also offers excellent BOP coverage, specializing in Breweries, Bars, Taverns, and Restaurants, Apartment buildings and More. We know, at That Insurance Guy, when we write with Badger, our clients are covered well. We are so grateful for our appointment with Badger Mutual!

First and foremost they're in Milwaukee Wisconsin, not dealing with on line agents from another country, or computers answering. Real people very well trained and always courteous. I purchased a homeowners policy with mechanical breakdown coverage. I live in Arizona and my AC unit is having electrical issues with the compressor. Without even seeing the unit they denied my claim. I disputed and then they hired a company to inspect it. The investigator confirmed with me the issues with the compressor but then I received a 2nd denial letter. I work in claims myself and their conduct is borderline bad faith claims handling. It appears they are looking out for their own interests.

If I could rate a zero or negative, that rating would be more appropriate. As with many of the reviews I read, we too, have been loyal customers. Things are wonderful, until we had hail damage this past year to our roof. Badger Mutual determined (somehow) that there absolutely was hail damage, but it happened in 2015 not this year. Of course, they cited 2015 as they year because coincidently, that was a few months before we went with Badger Mutual.

To our surprise, the company was able to look at the damage and determine that it was hail damage from the 2015 hail, not the 2021 hail. How ridiculous is this assessment? True, ethical, stand up companies value their customers. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Please be careful when using companies that do not value customers. This would be one we found who valued us every payment we made, until we had our first claim in six years. Then- they are no where to be found.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness So disheartened by this company! Like many others have stated, they are fine until you file a claim. They were like cold molasses at starting, follow-through, and completion. They brought in a 3rd party appraiser but gave them the wrong phone number to reach me. My adjuster didn't return calls or messages and they denied my claim

I have had badger mutual for over a year. Never missed a payment. My payment comes out every month on the 15th. Well in June I made my payment like normal and then a week later they try to take another $120 out of my account. When questioned about it all they said was they can't do anything about it. Now my bank account is over drawn. Horrible customer service!

When we had detected hail damage to our roof, Badger sent and adjuster out to evaluate the damage. After we picked a contractor to do the repair and he sent his bill to Badger, the company responded quickly with a settlement check so the contractor was paid off.

Someone hit my car because they failed to control their vehicle in the snow. This happened on a Saturday and the offices are closed on weekends so I had to wait until Monday to get things started. The claims adjuster called me on Monday (late in the day) and gave me info for a direct repair shop where I could have my car towed so I called the shop to setup the tow.

The car was picked up Monday night, an okay start but things went down hill from there! Wednesday the police report was released, I waited until Thursday to e-mail the adjusted for a status update but did not get a response. Friday I sent another email request for an update, no response. Monday morning, a week after the claim was started I called the adjuster and the call went to voice mail so I left a message, no response. Tuesday I call the office and they directed my call to the adjusted that I had been trying to get in touch with, went to voice mail, I hung up. Called the main office again and told them my situation, they connected me with a supervisor, finally we are getting somewhere, or so I thought.

The supervisor was very helpful at first, she sent me the police report and contacted the other insurance company. She sent me the info from the other insurance company (claim number, adjuster name, phone number). A week goes by so I call the repair shop, they have the parts for my vehicle and will start on it in the next day. Another week goes by so I call the shop and my car should be ready in a day or two, also called the other guys insurance, said they didn't make a liability determination yet (police report clearly showed it was the other guys fault and he was issued a citation) and they don't have estimate information from my insurance company.

So I called my insurance and was told that I need the other insurance to handle the claim and setup payment and such, so I had to call the shop to get the repair cost sent to the other insurance company then I had to call the other insurance company to let them know what was happening and gave them all of the info for my insurance company. WHY DIDN'T Badger Mutual do this?!? It has been 3 weeks, my car is almost ready, and the insurance has barley done anything to help.

I was rear ended at a red light by a Badger Mutual insured. I waited for nearly two weeks before getting any type of communication from a claims adjuster. The adjuster called me on a Friday at about 11:25 am and told me she would be leaving at 11:30am and would be back on Monday. I called her extension IMMEDIATELY following her phone call and got her voicemail, so I figured she had already left.

I sent her an email that same day and waited. I didnt hear anything Monday morning, so I tried her again. She didn't answer. I called the claims department and one of the reps was very nice and took down "my side" of what happened with the accident. Still nothing from my assigned claims adjuster. I emailed the adjuster a copy of the estimate for the damages, and she did send an email back that said she needed a different picture.

I have left MULTIPLE voicemails and sent emails and had only gotten that response. She has not returned ONE phone call or answered ONE time that I have called. I called the claims department again AND I sent a copy of the actual police report to her and she finally sent me some type of correspondence telling me she is waiting to here from their insured driver and that if I need assistance with my vehicle I should process this through my collision insurance.

She still has not called me one time and its been a week. I have called her multiple time throughout the day, ever day of the week. I even spoke with the policy holder and she said that the adjuster isn't answering their phone calls either and that they have left messages with her and she only calls when the driver (a minor) is in school. I will be making a complaint with the BBB as well. Good luck to anyone that gets in an accident with a Badger Mutual customer. Terrible customer service and not responsive AT ALL.

On September 6, 2019 I was rear-ended by someone who has Badger Mutual as their auto insurance. I went to the emergency room right after the accident. Ever since I have had an issue with the insurance company. The man that has given me a lot of issues, his name is Dan McNeely. I was stopped right before an intersection when his client rear-ended me aggravating a preexisting conditon.

I ended up having to go to the hospital. My hand and shoulder got injured in the impact. But the insurance adjustor Dan McNeely accused me of not being an 80 year old woman so I shouldn't have any injuries. They did pay for the car damage, but they seem to think that the car took most of the impact that I shouldn't have been hurt in that accident.

His client hit me from the rear but they accused me of being on my cell phone. I wasn't on my cell phone and it doesn't matter because he hit me from behind. I have dashcam footage of the impact and his client coming up to my window appologizing and admitting his fault. I have had to have surgery on my arm/shoulder. They don't even want to pay any of my medical bills.

Here we are in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. How many auto insurance companies are giving rebates, refunds or reduction in premiums? I went online to make my payment and couldn't get it to go through. I called Badger Mutual for help. I pay by installment - I think 3 times per year. For the privilege of paying online (thereby making it easier for THEM - they don't have to deposit a check) they charge me $7 extra per payment.

My attempt to pay wouldn't go through because they took off that "convenience" fee and I, not knowing that, was trying to actually pay the amount ON THE BILL. The woman I spoke to told me the $7 fee was taken off this time due to covid-19. Seven dollars. I checked Consumer Reports - other companies (not all major names) were refunding 20, 30, up to 40%, or sending a cash rebates or gift cards. Badger Mutual forgives the $7.00 fee that makes paying more convenient for THEM. I don't expect anything to happen. Just blowing off steam. I guess if I ever have an accident I shouldn't expect much.

Terrible company! We had severe hail storm that caused a great deal of destruction to roofs in our area. All adjacent homes had their roofs replaced by their various insurance companies. They were same sized homes built by same builder in the same year, same roofs, same age of roofs. The older woman that Badger sent out as their appraiser had her mind made up before she looked at our roof that they were not going to pay. They refused our claim. If you want a fair insurance company, look elsewhere.

Our independent agent has informed us that these idiots are likely going to drop us from our auto insurance because we've had 3 accidents in the last 5 years. But the problem is, TWO OF THEM WERE NOT OUR FAULT! WE WERE REAR ENDED! So, please, tell me how these should count against us? We've been with them for YEARS and we have ONE accident IN OUR OWN DRIVEWAY that's our fault and they're going to drop us? Really? Why bother having insurance if this is how they treat you? I would NOT RECOMMEND THEM!

No, No, No, don't do it, move on. Roof claim with interior water damage - thank you Badger Mutual for making that a bigger and more costly nightmare than mother nature. Turns out they aren't the best or the least expensive. You can do much better. Don't say you weren't warned.

I had a bad accident with my garage and they covered to replace my things. But wouldn't allow me to pay my next payment and they kicked me off the insurance without even telling me because I did a claim on the garage so I've been going weeks without insurance not even knowing I didn't have any insurance. I don't understand why I was kicked off the insurance, Isn't that what insurance is for?

I had a water leak and they covered all damages and had an adjuster to my house a couple days after I reported the leak. I would recommend this small company.

Since my last review, they have now tried to convince me to "repair the crumbling foundation of my porch or risk losing coverage. " My porch is made of CINDERBLOCK! It isn't crumbling by any stretch of the imagination! Badge mutual can suck my cat's posterior!
