Horrible experience when I was notified by my broker that QBE would not renew my home policy. The reasons cited were the age of the roof and chimney; however they didn't bother to notify us of this until the minimum legally required amount of time of 60 days. The house was in pretty much exact same condition 5 years ago when we purchased the policy and there was no mention of either after the walk-through, there has also been no inspection since that time so it is quite a mystery that suddenly the roof and fireplace are not acceptable.
I have never made a claim or had an issue yet they have no problem pulling the rug out from under a faithfully paying client. The customer service rep laughed on the phone when I expressed my frustration, as someone who works in customer service I was truly shocked by the lack of professionalism displayed by this man. I will be certain to check reviews on my next insurer as if I had done my research I would have never chose QBE, clearly the lowest quality option available. I advise anyone reading this to look elsewhere for their insurance needs.

Wow I was forced to get renters insurance for my apartment in Boston and this was the preferred vendor. I'm canceling my policy now because I am moving but they are forcing me to pay the full policy amount and extra. I was clearly told when signing up that I would only have to pay for the duration of my service and I can cancel any time. What a scam!

Horrible! I have told them multiple times and emailed verification that I have not lived at the address they previously held my policy at in a year. They still continue to charge me every month. I have continually asked to have payments stopped and am still fighting for a refund because somehow magically they don't have records of my calls or they have not received my information. STAY AWAY! Use a more prominent renters insurance like Progressive or someone. These people are awful!

Hands down the worst experience I have ever had. Yeah they're cheap but when you actually need help they will not be there for you. Before you sign read everything in the contract seriously. Out of a bill of 50k they said they will pay 5k. Please, if I can save one person from this company I did my job.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I started my claim on August 11th. It is September 8th and I still can't get in contact with my adjuster. Pepsi, the adjuster, doesn't respond to text messages, calls, voicemails, or emails. I spoke with her manager and she still doesn't do what she is supposed to do. OMG! Where I can report them or something we have to do about their service? I called last week to cancel and representative on the phone said she did cancelled for me by end of the month. Later I see charge for the next month on my email address. I called again and the representative said that I even didn't call them! First of all is a very long wait time to get on the phone but I had to wait multiple times. hope I cancelled this time but didn't receive confirmation again and reading reviews afraid it will continue - will have talk to the bank and dispute charges likely.

A common scammer where they sell you insurance but then won't let you cancel your policy when the term is up. I bought a one-year renter's policy starting Oct 1st 2020. I am now moving and trying to cancel my policy as of Sept 30th, 2021. QBE makes it impossible to cancel their policies! The cancel web page has no button to push to complete the cancel. Their normal site has no cancel choice. I was put on hold for more than an hour, during business hours, with no answer.

This should be illegal, in order for you to cancel you must email or call them. I emailed them and called them 3 times between their business hours and no answer or call back. The entire time it said I was in position 1 in line for 2 hours? YOU HAVE TO CANCEL THROUGH YOUR CREDIT CARD. Never work with them or Resident Shield literally use any other renters insurance. I've never been so frustrated in my entire life

Had to contact them because they didn't get the paper work to the bank. Then called them again, because they cancel our policy and didn't tell us. Then sent us a letter asking for payment or they would cancel. Terrible customer service and total lack of communication. Never working with them again and I warn anyone against working with them at all. Edit: now two weeks later I am still having issues with them. If I could give them zero stars I would.

I received email said I can cancel the policy through the email if I'm not able to call them in June. I send them multiple email, no one reply. I call them after I am able to go back USA. They ask me upload several document to cancel past-time policy. I send them multiple time, no one reply either. But if I want to cancel a overtime policy, I have to send though email. Ask me to email, and never reply, charge me 7 more month fee now, and I can't cancel it. That's ridiculus

QBE is an unethical, seemingly criminal enterprise with smarmy customer service reps. We suffered hail damage to our roof the end of the summer and filed a claim. That is when we discovered QBE raised our deductible from the $2,500 we agree to and paid premiums for, to just shy of $10,000. We were told that the state of MN insurance commission allows them to make these changes and they don't need to get our permission, nor do they need to notify us specifically about these changes.
They can bury them in mass dumps of documents. They also devalued our roof due to age to 51% replaceable. They figured the deductible as 2% of our dwelling value, which they decide what that value is and every year it goes up, meaning our deductible goes up. Do our premiums go down? Nope. They will gladly take your money. They sent a measly check to us for $1,300.
Then I speak to an agent at QBE who says they used the wrong dwelling value, they used 2021's value instead of 2020's value so they owed us an additional $240. How very generous. A day later I get an email saying they didn't figure the percentage of the roof they are willing to consider replaceable, and it really is only 43%, not 51% and they say they now over paid us by $980. DO NOT trust your home and security to QBE.
They will take your money and stab you in the back when you need them. Total incompetence and a trainwreck of a transaction and the customer service "professionals" are anything but professional. I guess QBE is living up to the stereotype of smarmy insurance companies.

Like several other reviewers, trying to cancel a policy has been a royal pain. They are only open from 7 AM- 7 PM M-F, making it difficult for those who work during those hours (like me) to contact customer service. I've tried to call multiple times and have had 40+ minute waits. I've never needed to file a claim, but their customer service availability is awful. There are no other options but the customer service line for service cancellation.

GOOD LUCK EVER GETTING ANYONE ON THE PHONE. Incredibly bad customer service. They don't answer their phone lines - any of them. They don't return calls. They don't respond to emails. They also won't cancel service. We've called and emailed and they still send payment requests. Avoid if at all possible. Literally a rock would be better.

I would highly encourage against working with this company. My experience was neutral up until I tried to move locations and switch my insurance to my new address. I have sent countless emails, waited on hold for hours at this point, and have STILL not been able to get a hold of anyone. The only outreach I've received was a notice from an automated "non-reply account" letting me know that my policy is set to automatically renew at my old address in a couple weeks (and this came through after my dozens of attempts at reaching someone).
To top it off, you are unable to cancel or change your insurance through their self-service portal. I hate to leave a negative review, but this experience has been incredibly frustrating and added stress on top of a move. Be warned!

They do not answer phone calls, respond to emails or official cancellation forms submitted through their website. Scammers who will continue to charge your account after months of proven paper trails to try and cancel. They are the partner of company "Resident Shield" and will be sold to you under the service of that name. Resident Shield customer service in turn takes no responsibility for QBE's lack of response. Stay Away from Resident Shield Renters Insurance and Partner company QBE.

It is nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone or chat in less than 40 minutes. For example, right now, I was told there were 5 people ahead of me, and I've been waiting for 45 minutes now with 3 people still ahead of me. Yet, somehow every time I talk to someone they are extremely eager to get me off the phone as soon as possible. I also requested a refund for 3 months as we were no longer residents at that location (which was supposed to be cancelled yet somehow they missed the memo).
I got no sort of email confirmation that my cancellation and/or refund request was received, and since then I've been charged for another month of renter's insurance.

I wanted to update the review- I was able to reach out my agent- he was extremely helpful and his intervention resulted is prompt fair resolution of our claim. We were quite satisfied with the ultimate results.but I wondered why it took that intervention-The carrier is experienced in claim resolution and it's sad that it took the agents intervention. Would never recommend. The website doesn't work at all (as in, it doesn't register that I even have an account), you can't pay anything online, and they never respond to any form of communication. I only went with them because thats what the apt complex recommended. Not looking forward to canceling the policy when I move.
