I've had Dean Health insurance through the health insurance marketplace. for the past several years and always paid my premiums on time. I turned 65 in April and was advised to call the marketplace prior to April 1 to let them know I would be cancelling my insurance as Medicare would become effective April 1. Dean Health is billing me for $13.53 for coverage on April 1, even though my coverage with them technically ended at midnight on March 31.
They are threatening to place me for collection if I do not pay for coverage for April 1 even though Medicare had officially kicked. Had I filed a claim on April 1, who would pay, Medicare or Dean Health? I am relatively certain Dean Health would fight tooth and nail paying a claim if I am also covered by Medicare at the same time. Dirty rats deserve their dirty reputations.

After a longfight with the software, I finally got valid entries and an account, at least that iswhat the web site said. It took meback to signin. I tried to sign in (many times). Always got the red report that something didn't match yote records. Attempts to change password also repeatedly failed. Noi valadition was send by SMS oir email. Can you clear my brokenaccount or fix it?

First time with Dean insurance. Called today about a bill I received. It showed I was being billed for blood work my doctor set up for me. Turns out Some of the blood work was covered and some was only partially covered. I've never been billed for any blood work done before. I was told that some blood work is preventative medicine and some isn't. How Ridiculous is that.

Incompetent, inept, and inefficient are the most polite words I can muster when describing this company. As a PPO member, Dean in their infinite wisdom decided with no advance notice to switch healthcare networks from EOS Multi-Plan to First Health in July of 2021. First Health is an absolute failure, their website to locate providers looks and feels to have been built by a 5th grade elementary class project and they have flat out misrepresented providers they cover on the web directory in an attempt to look like they offer something that they don't.
In one recent boondoogle my physician had to refer me to another healthcare system to obtain an MRI 45 minutes away passing 5 other MRI facilities. From there I had to see a specialist that accepts First Health an hour away because the 16 other specialists within 15 minutes that all work within the same healthcare network as my physician.refuse to accept First Health becuase.in their billing departments words.
First Health is a nightmare to deal with from a billing perspective for providers. If you are a decision maker and are considering Dean Healthcare for your employees. I would select ANY other insurance company. If you are a prospective employee of a company that uses Dean to provide health insurance.you may want to strongly consider finding a different employer.
I'm sure some intern at Dean will respond to this review with a "Sorry.contact our customer service team". sadly management at Dean should have a discussion with their own customer service teams. One Dean employee was uncharacteristically honest and blunt when she admitted that the switch to First Health has been "an absolute train wreck".

In July, Navitus decided to change their entire formulary dropping hundreds of medications from approved list. Was forced to take medication that were under new formulary. In my case the alternatives had adverse effects, but the health plan is not interested in providing the right medication. I was on name brand with $10 copay but the covered alternatives were $35 and had side effects that were debilitating.
Then try getting it filled at an SSM pharmacy! If it is controlled, you cannot get it one day early! My dose was changed, still wouldn't fill it. Came back a week later when I had one pill left, nope, don't have it! Seriously the absolute biggest nightmare of my life! Let me also add that this medication is not indicated in people my age but the health plan is forcing me to try and fail all the alternatives before it will cover the brand I had been on for several years!

If I could give less stars I would. Dean has gone completely downhill since being bought by SSM health. I enjoyed Dean as our family provider from birth until I was 27. Benefits were understandable, a good value, and then providers had time and authority to care for you. Then my employer had GHC and that was a great experience too for 14 years. Last year we had to go back to Dean.
Completely different experience from 14 years ago. Billing and scheduling is atrocious. MyChart looks like its 10 years in the past. For some reason I've received 3 new client packets. The last 6 months after the plan started. Rude responses or unanswered questions from client services. My prescriptions are consistently delayed. And its remarkably expensive for what we get. If you have a choice choose another provider.

I had Dean health care for years, and have also had the misfortune of having other health plans. I never saw a bill, never had to worry about coverage. Other health plans I have to call just about every time or I receive a big bill. Dealing with customer service at Dean is so easy compared to other companies. I call and get the answers I need the first time, every time. Love the plans and the great pricing. When comparing plans value, I always stick with Dean.

I am a new member of DeanHealth Plan in Wisconsin and I used SSM Health as my clinic. Due to my first visit and interaction with DeanHealth I'll surely be choosing another provider when my open enrollment starts. My clinic billed DeanHealth for service I never had done. when I let SSM Health know they told me to contact DeanHealth who in return told me to contact SSM Health to do a re-coding.
In the end they ask me to call back in 30 days to correct the wrong billing. this is too much for a simple mistake made by both parties. One last thing the customer support that replies to these messages only gives their generic none helpful 1800 number. I'm over DeanHealth!
