I wish I could have given zero stars. I bought my first brand new car recently and called Erie insurance ASAP and let them know since I've already been with them for a few years. I spoke with a woman named Tiffany who got my vehicle changed in my policy and everything was set to go, no worries. The next day I get a call from her saying that since I had a co-signer, he would need to be approved on my policy.
She said that he may even have to switch to Erie insurance (he doesn't have Erie insurance, he doesn't even live in the same state as me). She made him fill out a questionnaire asking all these questions about how often he'd be driving the car, how many miles he would put on it, etc. which was weird because he wasn't going to be driving it at all.
After that she just had to send it to underwriting and get him approved. This wasn't really a problem. She told me I was completely covered while this was in the process. I called later that day just to double check I had insurance before I left for my lunch break. Not even three hours later a get an EMAIL, not even a phone call, from Tiffany saying that since we're still in the process, I am not covered in the policy and I do not have insurance and can't drive my vehicle.
Never got any voicemail, phone call, nothing. I was left completely stranded at work with a brand new car I've only had for two days. Erie insurance completely screwed me over and left me high and dry without even giving me a notice, not only that, but had told me more than twice that I was covered with my new vehicle and could drive, only to find out that my policy was cut because my co-signer goes through a different insurance company for his own vehicles in a completely different home and state than me.
I called the dealership and multiple other insurance agents and they all had one general consensus: This is the most absurd thing they've ever heard of and it was completely unethical and unreasonable for them to do what they did to me. I will NEVER use them again and would highly recommend everyone else stays far away. This happened yesterday and I STILL haven't received any phone calls or information. Absolutely horrible and unprofessional company.
