Services
Our businesses began in 1996 when Bill Hill, W3WH, realized that the only place to purchase amateur radio equipment insurance was through the ARRL. Bill consulted with his longtime associate in the insurance business Bill Gallina and together we formed Ham Radio Insurance Associates, Inc. (HRIA) The reason we started the company is to offer insurance to hams who are not members of the ARRL and also to provide an alternative to what had been a virtual monopoly in the field.
All insurance is simply a method of sharing your risks of loss with others who have similar exposures. These risks are transferred to an insurance company which acts as a clearinghouse; they accept premium and pay losses. They also write the insurance contract which spells out what is covered under various circumstances and how much they'll pay.
Covers ham radios, accessories & related equipment including computers and component parts, cell phones, data processing equipment, data & media, etc. Coverage for towers, antennas & rotors can be added for an additional premium. Mechanical Breakdown and electrical damage coverage can also be added.
