From the reasons of why we work with insects to how they are fed, reared and bred - sustainability is our focus. Because we know that sustainability is also a major driving force for producers and consumers, our breeding and disease screening programmes ensure healthier and more productive animals to limit resource use and waste. By developing the insects-as-food industry in this way, we not only can significantly boost production, but also contribute to at least four of the UN Sustainable development goals: (i) zero hunger, (ii) good health and well-being, (iii) responsible production and consumption, and (iv) life on land.
Services
Within our breeding programme, our animals are selected for traits relevant to high production and survival. Because we are continuously improving our breeding line, returning customers can take advantage of ongoing genetic improvements in newer generations. Crucially, our animals are free from Acheta domesticus Densovirus, a common disease in house crickets that reduces production and increases mortality.
Our research is fundamental to producing high quality breeding stock for a viable and sustainable insects-as-food industry. Effect of red clover-only diets on house crickets (Acheta domesticus) growth and survival. Microbial communities and food safety aspects of crickets (Acheta domesticus) reared under controlled conditions.
