I have never felt compelled to write a review about an insurance company, but I could not be more pleased with TCP insurance and felt they deserved a glowing review. I have been a professional photographer for 20 years, and up until this year I had Lockton Insurance through PPA. In the past two years, Lockton's customer service has gone sadly downhill.
In comparison, the folks at TCP have responded quickly to my questions, were happy to chat with me over the phone to discuss my policy in full, and their rates are more than competitive. I am a very satisfied customer of TCP Insurance and would recommend the company highly to other professional photographers.

My 7th year with them. and Just signed a 4x size contract. Rich is my guy there, and before we signed the new agreement, he took 4 hours over 3 days to make sure I was fully educated and understood all the nuances of my new policy and possibilities of my new production insurance. Looking forward to another 7 years or more.

I have insured with TCP for years now. Whenever I need them, I feel like they stop whatever they are doing and clear their plate just for me. Most recently, I had a fire drill and need some documents immediately for a business license permit. Before I even got off the phone with my client, Chet had sent over the docs I needed. I have been using TCP for over 7 years and they are incredible. They are the best insurance agent for photographers and cover what photographers actually need! I have made a few claims over the years and it has been a breeze. They are always there to answer the random question (like am I covered on a shoot if my kayak flips into the water with my gear, and the answer is YES.) Highly recommend.

I am a professional photographer based in NYC. I have used Tom Pickard as my insurance company for over 15+ years. Truth is, any time I have had a problem with equipment breakdown, computer damage, any liability, worker's comp, they have jumped on it and fixed the problem within a few hours. Highly recommend them!

If you're a bigger production company, TCP is probably a great fit. If you're a small company go with someone else. I have a small production company and felt like I was subsidizing larger company's plans. I was with them for 3-4 years and only pulled 2-3 COI a year. But they require a $350 yearly fee for ECerts. When I inquired about lowering this cost because of so few COI I was told "This includes unlimited certs and allows us to keep premiums low to pay off claims ourselves.
And you agreed to it initially" No empathy towards my small business trying to keep costs down, it felt like I was being told to shut up and pay up. Over the years I paid $1400 for a few COI a year, that's ridiculous. It seemed like I was just subsidizing TCP bottom line as insurance brokers typically only make 10% on a premium. Not to mention that when I switched plans my premiums went down almost 50% for the exact same coverage.
Not sure how their paying claims themselves vs filing claims was saving me any money vs helping them build their business. Insurance always feels like a gamble, I'm much happier with a local broker and different insurer than I was with TCP. I feel I'm getting more for my money, which when you run a small business is a HUGE deal.

Nicole Trombly is very rude. She does not explain things in a systematic manner and she expects people to understand the first time around. After she explained it correctly; how I am on the policy but not on the insurance card and I am covered under the policy; I had a question regarding that and she immediately screamed asking me to let her finish first.
I refused because I did have a question and I should be given the opportunity to ask questions in between a long explanation that has many components and not be patrionized by her! That is a basic rule of good communication to talk to eachother back and forth. She continued to scream as I asked her for the owners email address to complain. I have been told this company was losing a lot of clients and now I know why. I would not do business with them if I were you. Their customer service is a ZERO on a scale of ZERO to TEN.

Unfortunately my experience with TCP wasn't a good one. I was deceived by my TCP agent who stated that in the event of a claim, I would be reimbursed for the stated value on the scheduled items list. Turns out that during the event of a claim, they do not replace goods at the stated value, but at the current lowest possible price they can find on the market for the claimed item.
On top of that, they did not tell me that I need to update my equipment list with the current market value each year, resulting in overstating the insured amount each year which ultimately led to paying a higher premium. Very deceiving and do not recommend.

I took out a 1 year policy for a job with no intention of renewing. I made it clear that I was for this job and I would not be renewing. Like another photographer, all of a sudden after not re-signing I get this bogus collections notice claiming I owe them money. I tried to let them know I am about to go out of business and if they could work with me. With a smile I was told NO. Really? I have been a client for many years, but the latest dealing with the TPC was the best yet. We had a complicated meshing of two different types of policies for me and my husband. It involved research and lots of phone calls on the part of Nicole with our insurer. She was prompt and very professional. She saved us a lot of money and was incredibly easy to deal with.
She was careful to make sure we had the best coverage and the best price. That's exactly what you want when buying insurance. It's the first time we have had Nicole handle our policies and I hope she handles all of our matters going forward. Remarkably good service. Highly recommend her.

TCP has been my company, Gear 6 Production's, insurance carrier for the past 3 years. They.are.outstanding. The customer service is instantaneous, and you get a live, helpful and credible person on the line immediately. A actual person.can you believe it? I would highly recommend all my friends and family to obtain their services through TCP. The customer service with Miguel Reynaga is not only exceptional.it is as good as it gets. I have never written a review on Yelp before, but I was compelled to complete one since Miguel, one of the agents there provided me with instant, anytime you needed service.
When I switched insurance to Mercury, Miguel made the process seamless. With my past insurance co, it was almost impossible to get someone on the phone to discuss matters when issues arised. Not in this case; Miguel provided me with his phone number to make sure that if and when questions needed to be answered and/or issues needed to be resolved, he was there every step of the way to assist me. He is friendly, positive, and committed to taking time to insure his client feels comfortable and satisfied. Great job!

Professionally we have used Tom C Pickard to insure our photography business and equipment for years and they are always prompt with any changes, updates or requests. Recently they asked if they could provide us a quote to put all of our personal insurance under one "roof" along with our business policy. Changing insurance can be an unpleasant lengthy process and I was a bit reluctant. But, Miguel at Tom C Pickard made the entire process so easy and best of all for us, we did it all electronically and by email, no lengthy phone calls.
They provided us savings on both our auto and renters policies, actually lowering our deductible for the auto in the end too. This was the easiest transition in insurance I have ever experienced!

I came to Tom Pickard by way of one of my photography teachers, when I was on the hunt for photography insurance. As someone that does not fluently speak the language of insurance, finding new insurance was daunting for me. However, everyone at Tom Pickard was incredibly generous and helpful with their insight and feedback. Cyndi in particular kindly spoke to me a number of times as I pummeled her with questions, and she answered all of them patiently until I felt I had what I needed. I highly recommend working with these folks!

Really only 5 stars! I rate them 10! My gear got stolen about a week ago and the efficiency of the people in the office who clearly like who they work for, and what they do were able to get my gear replaced via a new program called "Preferred Provider Claims Services". For a working photographer, a husband and a father of two boys in a fast market, time is money and Tom C Pickard saved my arse and my business.
My family depends on me and TCP wasted no time. This is the way every business should be run. My hat is off to all your staff and my family and I are lucky to do business with you. Cheers

I am so happy I switched back to TPC for my insurance needs. I carry a lot of insurance policies, so it was no small task to evaluate. Jeannie and Miguel took the time to review all of my policies and got me a refund for $350.00 dollars in fees that I was overcharged over the last 3 years from my other broker. I can't speak highly enough of the great service I have received.
If they say they are going to call you back, they do. They keep the clients best interest in mind. I will be referring all my family and friends to them! Jeannie and Miguel are the best!

I used TCP for a year. Was out of town and let my insurance lapse by two days. I called and apologized. They said it would be over two hundred dollars in penalties to reinstate it. I asked them to waive part of or all the fee and the sent me a curt email with a link to their legal department and said I should refer all further questions to them. After I emailed them explaining I intended to relay my experience on Yelp and Facebook they emailed back and said they'd waive the fee.
In the end they tried to accommodate me but only after I was treated rudely, impersonally and because they were afraid of my bad review of their service. They do have competitive pricing and prompt attention while in their good graces. Check them out but consider the above.
