I WOULDNT GIVE THEM A HALF A STAR BAD COMPANY I opened my claim on May 10th and it's over a month later and still nothing. My adjuster Ms Augetera is very much a scam and the entire company. When I finally spoke with her after numerous calls and attempts I was finally able to speak to her and she goes into details telling me how customers curse her out and blah blah then she says she was sick so her work was piled up then she said she was out of the office for a week and I know that's a lie.

She came up with so much but she's working supposedly at home remotely so she's not working she's just home doing nothing. I contacted CS and asked her manager to call me yeah right them calling back is impossible. She tells me she got reprimanded and still nothing so that's probably false. My items got stolen and I made a police report sent them all their documents and 4 weeks later they say the police report needs to be supplemented and I'm like wtf a whole month and you say that to me.

Bottom line they try to find everything they can to not pay and I don't know how they are still in business with renters insurance because the phone service is great. I'm reporting them to the better business bureau TODAY and I will get my claim done and paid out if I have to sue them myself this makes no sense and calling and customer service says I'm emailing them now then she said ye s your adjuster is available now and I got transferred and she still didn't answer. I've asked to speak to a GENERAL MANAGER.A SUPERVISOR and they won't let you.

Their complaint phone number routed me back to them it's just unfair people have situations and they treat you like this. I had State Farm regrets and it was very fast and reliable I just canceled my policy and will not renew with them. Taking over 2 weeks is too long to process a claim let alone 1 month or 4-5 months that's illegal in the court of law. It's a pandemic and everything supposed to be fast.

We purchased our home owners insurance through Geico and they partner with Assurant which is a shame because in my experince Geico provides great customer service and overall service and Assurant has the worst customer service of ANY buisness i have ever experienced. Our claim started in February of 2022 and is still not resolved! NO ONE calls us back in fact in 4 months not one employee or manager i have called to speak with and gather information has called us back.we only speak to them if they happen to answer when we call (which happend very rarely).

No one appears to care or know anything! We have a downstairs portion of our home that still has exposed walls because they havent decided how much they are willing to pay to complete the project.meanwhile we have an active infant and i cant put up baby gates because we have no walls! We started and were told 30 days, 4 months later they have paid 1 of the companies that has provided us service and have ignored us and the other companies that worked on our home.

I cannot wait til this over so i can cancel my policy and unfortunately that means Geico will loose a customer as well. Overall they have done nothing to make my family feel insured. -5 stars

Completely broken support and customer care. Assurant seems to have "upgraded" its systems and now has lost all relevant customer service contract information in its systems. Cannot pull my information up via email, phone #, appliance serial number, or address. Have been giving me the "run around" for weeks now. Promised an email response, but no dice.

My car was broken into and have been working back and forth with assurances. It has been over 4 months and I was told my case was complete and would receive a call. My adjuster - Toni Nieves - has ignored all forms of communication and I have still not heard back.

I filed a claim in September 2021, three days after the date of loss. From that date, I spent months and countless time and effort attempting to follow up on the status of my claim. I am limiting the details in this review but would note that I chose not to renew my policy in October 2021 and am still seeking to understand resolution of my filed claim - I sent a certified letter on February 8, 2022 which still has not been accepted by the office. I have not been informed of any change in status of my claim.

. this is anhorrible use when you have renters insurance. I have had a claim going on since September I was forced out of my house due to water and mold and lost a lot of my belongings. Countless emails phone calls and voice messages left or never answered. I sent an email every single day and still no response they have all of my paperwork that needs to be used to process the rest of the claim For me to collect on what I lost I had to live in a hotel for almost 3 months and I'm still not able to go back to the place I was forced to move which encountered more funds I had to shell out they know this whole situation and still nothing. Two other people I know had similar issues happened to them with other items they had insured they are an absolute disgrace

Claim number 00201421703 Policy number: CND019114100 I wish I got Safeco insurance. My condo has a water leaking issue caused by the roofing who replaced the roof. I have this TERRIBLE Geico-assurant who denied helping me and asked me to fight with the roofers. But the other unit that has Safeco insurance was lucky as their insurance covered all damages and they will fight with whoever caused the damage. Don't WASTE your money and your time with Geico-Assurant insurance.

As incompetent as can be, this company has the worst claims handling department of any insurance company that I have ever had to deal with. They have rigged their phone system to NEVER get you to a person to speak to. Return phone calls don't happen as I have leftover half a dozen messages with no response. As a collision repair facility, my customer is as frustrated as I am.

This company is absolutely terrible and has all the makings of a scam. I pray that nobody ever has to deal with the scum that makes up this company, who clearly avoids as much as they can to pay settlements out, which is. an aspect of doing business. I was hit by a car in January, and they dodged every call of mine they possibly could. After months of trying to call, they finally got back to me and agreed on a settlement after I kept trying to push through with various lines of communication.

A month later after finally agreeing on the settlement, the settlement comes in, but they completely ignore the medical costs that I was told I'd receive. Guess what, I am back to square one where I am constantly calling them every day until somebody responds, which seems to never happen. For having office hours from 8-5 M-F, they sure are never at their desks to answer any calls, considering I am always calling within that period. People at Assurant constantly try to connect me/forward me throughout the company during my phone calls, but nobody ever answers.

American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida (ABIC, dba. Assurant) is the proxy home insurance company by GEICO. I had a claim in May/2021 and this company provides horrible service when you have a claim with them, dishonest tactics to fool client about the settlement number. After I caught their lie about the number to my face, the agent Mr. Humberto Velez, instead of making an apology to set things straight, started questioning me if I am a licensed insurance adjuster.

I told him I am just your client with facts. LOL. ABIC is my own insurance 2nd to my HOA master insurance (with Farmers). I had my claim on 05/27/2021. My HOA master insurance and ABIC separately had their different scopes of repairs. HOA master policy (Farmers) had already settled with us with their deduction ($5000) taken. ABIC, after obtaining Farmer's resolution letter, however tried misleading me that the Farmers policy has covered "all" of ABIC's approved scope of repair, which is NOT true. ABIC closed my claim, refusing the payment for the difference Farmer's policy doesn't cover but ABIC previously approved.

Which I lined out to hem item-by-item. ABIC also totally ignored my ALE claim that is ABIC's liability. What made it worse, on 10/15/2021, ABIC's Humberto Velez called me and lied straight on my face that the amount I claim from ABIC should be deducted again from the Farmers policy deduction amount $5000. That's the funniest thing I have heard recently about number crunching. LOL.

What the hell does farmer's deduction to do with you ABIC? We already settled with Farmers part to fix A, B, C with farmer's deduction already taken. And ABIC you already approved the fix of B, C, D, so you shall pay me the amount to fix D, and the amount of difference for B and C, if any, you approved but farmer's coverage is short.

Then we take your ABIC's deduction out of the sum. That's simple. ABIC's agent knows exactly what should be done here, but obviously they are trying to do tactics to their client. I will also make this complaint formal to the GEICO.

I had them for my cell phone filed a claim because I had a broken screen. They sent a new one and had me mail thr old one but a few weeks latter they said they never received it only an empty envelope. I ask of they can review video of them receiving the package but they don't monitor that so a employee could have taken my phone and they had me pay 360 o. Top of the 100 I paid for the replacement don't use assurant.

0 stars if it were allowed! Today I'm expecting a call back from an attorney! I did everything I was asked. I turned in all documentation and nobody was working on my claim for who knows how long. Somewhere along the way my claims adjuster was replaced and this new adjusyer just abruptly closes my case after speaking with me once, asking me for information I had turned in 3 weeks prior.

I got 2 payments from my first adjuster Hilda who could see my.jpg just fine. This new lady doesn't even know how to open a word document. I'm not going away. I've been calling everyday for over a week with no call back. So I'm on attorney level now. I will be getting my settlement. Stick with phone insurance because your renters insuarnce is a joke!

Nobody is ever available, not even a manager. All the customer service reps can do is send emails to my claims adjuster and their manager. That's not working! It never has through this whole process. I may sue for emotional distress. I was a victim of an apartment fire. My family and I were homeless for over a month and if you think you're going to get away with this you're sadly mistaken. Asking for feedback after Lakecia closed my claim without my knowledge was a real slap in the face too. I'm disgusted by the unprofessionalim this company offers. ATTENTION! People, DO NOT BUY RENTERS INSURANCE THROUGH GEICO!

They use a third-party, Assurant. Assurant also used a third party for the inspection, which didn't happen until about three weeks after the fire and I never got updated about. Geico basically does nothing except offer their brand name! I CAN'T WAIT TO SWITCH COMPANIES!

Assurant was recommended by my property manager and I signed up with them as I didn't have any prior insurance provider and it was only a few days between signing the lease and moving in. Thankfully, I never had to file a claim with them but here is a short list of issues I experienced dealing with their website. - They claim that renter's insurance is mandatory by law and as such, the insurance autorenews by default with no option to opt out.

This sounds ludicrous and just isn't true. - After signing up, you're unable to remove your credit card information or opt out of autopay because 'renter's insurance is mandatory by law'. I typically never allow any website to save my credit card info or autopay and this was a huge violation of my trust. If I'd noticed this when I first signed up, I would definitely have gone someplace else. - Their site doesn't work with Firefox.

Long story short, I returned my replacement device and expected a refund of my $99 deductible. I was then informed that I returned the claimed device instead and that they will not be refunding me even though I have proof with my previous and current phone carriers that the phone I'm using is in fact the claimed device. I emailed, spoke with chat agents, and argued with multiple phone agents before I was brushed off and told to mail a letter into their corporate office to rectify their mistake. No response from corporate. I'm just thankful I didn't trust this scam of a company with insuring anything else.

Assurant is a SCAM. Expect terrible customer service I've been an Assurant rental insurance customer for ten years. I went TEN YEARS without ever needing to make a claim. Then our apartment got mold, and some of our belongings were damaged. We tried to file a claim online -- the form was broken. I build websites for a living -- the form was obviously broken on Assurant's end.

Since we couldn't submit the information via webform, we emailed it to our claim adjuster. Then we tried calling, and left a voicemail for our claim adjuster. We didn't hear back, so we called again the next day. We called every day for a week and a half and never heard anything. We found our claim adjuster's supervisor and called. Nothing.

We call the main line, and sit through extremely long wait times, navigating phone menus, getting placed on hold and getting dumped back to the menu when they were allegedly transfering us to someone who could help. Again, no help. This whole process is made to be impossible. On purpose. Because if you can't actually complete your claim, Assurant keeps your money and never has to pay out.

Over a month and a half later, we finally get to speak to our claims adjuster. We explain our situation and no surprises here -- our claim was denied. Even though we have a provision in our policy that says mold damage is covered. The real test of insurance is: if you need to make a claim, do they help you? If you're with Assurant, the answer is clearly no.

How much money does Assurant make by denying your claims? Assurant's CEO Alan B. Colberg made $9,465,745 in 2019 Assurant's Chief Financial Officer Richard S. Dziadzio made $3,526,168 in 2019 Assurant's Chief Operating Officer Gene E. Mergelmeyer made $4,232,613 in 2019 Assurant's Executive Vice President Keith W. Demmings made $3,016,777 in 2019 Assurant's Executive Vice President Robyn Price Stonehill made $2,226,913 in 2019 These five executives alone made $22,468,216 in one year.

Twenty two million dollars. Unless you want to spend your hard-earned money helping buy Alan Colberg another mansion, avoid Assurant. They won't help you when you need it, and they'll make you spend dozens of hours of your life you'll never get back for the privilege of denying your claim. A pox on your house, Alan Colberg! May all of your meals turn to ash in your mouth.

ZERO STARS. NO STARS TO GIVE. I have had a claim pending for FOUR MONTHS. I got a couple of letters saying that their repeated attempts to contact me had gone unsuccessful. They never attempted to contact me. (I checked. All of my information is correct.) Then the adjustor in charge of my claim left the company, so I was forced to resubmit everything.

I have been attempting to have my claim handled for four months, and no one will call me back or respond to emails. I was just on hold for 30 minutes and then disconnected. Judging from the other reviews, I can see this is SOP for them, which means they are a scam and a fake, collecting premiums every month, but not following through on claims filed through that policy. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and encourage others to do so too. I am also attempting to file a complaint with Geico because this is unconscionable.

This is a scam insurance company. I was introduced to them because I was renting a garage where the owner asked me to pay through Cozy (https://cozy.co). I was signed up by Assurance through Cozy. I rented a garage for 6 months and canceled the cozy payment after six months. But Assurant kept billing me for 4 additional months -- WITHOUT AN INVOICE OR EMAIL NOTICE. Total rip-off!

If I could give this business no stars I would. I'm also reporting them to the BBB. I've had a policy for 4 years and I when I wanted to file a claim, I was told my insurance didn't cover it which was blasphemous because my claim was reasonable for what I had purchased. SCAM! It's a scam company and you are wasting your money God forbid anything should ever happen to your belongings in your apartment (I got rental insurance). Geico should drop them! Oh and to add salt to the wound, they emailed me asking for a review. I gave them a bad review and they cancelled my policy effective next year. Petty.

Like many reviewers on here, I was recommended Assurant Renters Insurance when I bought my car about 7 months ago and selected car insurance with Geico. I never thought I would need Renters and even considered canceling on many occasions because I thought the chance of having something stolen (least of all enough to even warrant filing a claim given the deductible) or my apartment flooded was slim to none. Then, the unexpected happened the week of Christmas when my roommates and I were all traveling for the holidays, and our apartment was robbed while we were gone.

I had the most valuables out of the three of us, though we all had things stolen. I had electronics (my own and my work laptop through my company), all of my jewelry, designer handbags, shoes, coats--thousands of dollars worth of belongings that I had worked hard for, stolen from me by some worthless, lazy, cruel piece of scum out there that will probably never contribute anything positive to the world.

It was the most violating thing that had happened to me. And the days that followed were nothing short of stressful between dealing with the police, informing my work of the stolen laptop, getting fingerprints taken, calling nearby businesses for any information that they might be able to offer, investing in a home security system installation and spy cameras.

Although I will likely never see some of the sentimental jewelry that was taken ever again and nothing can replace that, the silver lining was that I DID have renters insurance. Although, I was thoroughly dreading the process after reading horrible reviews on here and having heard insurance-related horror stories from others. So anyway, I started the claims process prepared for the worst and was called the same day by my adjuster, Bobak, who listened to me and sounded sincere and sympathetic. Now, it was a time-consuming process (which I expected), but my adjuster made the process understandable.

It took me a full weekend and a few nights after that to compile and organize all of the necessary documentation, but once I submitted my claim, Bobak followed up with me twice--once to let me know that all the documentation was received and a second time not even a week later to tell me that it had already been reviewed and approved. In the end, they were there when I needed them, as an insurance company should be. Looking back on everything, Assurant made a horrible situation somewhat less painful.

Although getting a check in the mail will not get rid of the paranoia I now feel living in my apartment, or the violating feeling of someone having cleaned out my stuff, nor will it replace my mother's antique elgin bracelet that was passed down to me, it did however lessen some of the blow and heartache that follows this kind of situation. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews--I honestly think that if you are honest and follow the documentation guidelines they have (and also take the time to understand why they have those guidelines and restrictions - it's an insurance company after all, they must also protect themselves from dishonest people and fraud attempts), that you will have a positive experience with them.

You are always going to come out on the losing end when something unfortunate like this happens, I guess that's just life--having your place broken into is not something that you ever think will happen to you and there is always going to be some degree of loss that insurance cannot replace--for instance, my policy only covered up to $1000 in jewelry, so I only claimed only a couple pieces that were worth the most.

But assurant at least lessened the degree of monetary loss and, in my opinion, I thought they were quick, fair and understanding. I rarely write reviews, but I am just so grateful to have had renters insurance at all and, after reading so many negative reviews, thought that I would add my positive experience with Assurant and the adjuster that I had.
