Stay away from the mortgage department. On at least two occasions they have discussed private information about my loan with a business associate who is not a borrower on the note. Not only does this violate their published Privacy Policy, it violates the Grahm, Leach, Bliley Act. However, Washington Federal Savings employees apparently feel that obeying the law is optional in their case.
Upon reporting the problem to corporate, one of the guilty parties immediately recounted his story. After filing a complaint with the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), Washington Federal Savings retaliated against me. If you value your privacy as a consumer to any degree whatsoever, avoid this institution like the plague. If you attempt to exercise your rights, they will play hardball. Integrity has not been displayed in my opinion.
If your mortgage financing is currently with Washington Federal Savings, please consider refinancing with a government or conventional loan. The terms are better and you will have protections in place that you lack with Washington Federal Savings.
