NOT LGBT friendly. They cover some gender affirming care they're legally obligated to, but if there's any wiggle room for them they will absolutely refuse to cover medication and treatment for transgender women and men.

CHPW repeatedly denies legitimate claims, it took me 3 calls and literally months to initiate the appeals to get my appointments paid for. Their network of providers is small and apparently hate them because even though a provider is in network and contracted they will refuse to let you make an appointment. I am on month 3 trying to make an appointment with a dermatologist in their network. CHPW says they will sort it out, then they don't. 5 calls to them and 4 separate representatives including the supervisor, each time they promise to sort it out.

They never do. After describing the many issues with WA health exchange they are opening up enrollment for me to switch insurance. I have spent 10-15 hours on the phone with CHPW dealing with problems and empty promises to address them. What do your premiums pay for at this company? It certainly doesn't pay for your health expenses. It pays for their employees to create dysfunction for their customers and providers. CHPW is the worst health insurance I ever had.

I don't understand how this health plan can have such low reviews. I'm so glad I chose CHPW. The representatives are always helpful, especially Debbie! She went above and beyond! Thank you for caring for your customers :

Can anyone save me from this company? Several diseases are deprived of sleep, afflicted with diabetes, blood pressure, intolerable pain, and other diseases. And fake sanitary cover. Wait for my death. It is not always acceptable. All because of this company. It is my destiny to live with the pain and disease of cancer with Community Health Care

If I could give CHPW less than one star I would. I'm located in the Yakima area. I just signed up for a CHP of Washington Medicare Advantage Plan. To get me signed up with the plan they were very, very customer oriented and very eager to get my premium but when I attempted to find a provider who will take new patients it was a different story. Their literature said to start at their website to find a doctor so I did.

I called one who said "Oh she doesn't work here. She works at another clinic and isn't accepting new patients. So I started calling all of the eight clinics listed on their website. Unfortunately the information on their website does not match reality so I got frustrated and called their central CHPW 1-800 customer service line and they told me "they can't help it if the clinics don't update their information with us" and wished me a good day.

So I went back to calling the clinics and begging. One customer service person actually sighed when I asked a question. I finally got an appointment in a town 40 miles from Yakima. With the exception of one clinic all of the customer service people in the clinics were unwelcoming and unwilling to answer questions. I'm going to try a plan other than CHPW.

Having just watched CBS news regarding United Healthcare. I am so grateful and proud to have been a part of this team previously. Mental health is a huge priority for CHPW as is community support. I know intimately how hard CHPW makes this a priority.

As a healthcare provider and in my honest opinion I cannot recommend the Community Health Plan of Washington. Despite our good faith efforts and the quality care provided to their subscribers (our patients), they deny claims seemingly without merit. The result is that subscribers think that they have coverage and they do not. I have found the Quality Department and their Provider Services departments to be fruitless and a waste of time. Bottom line, patients received quality care from us and CHPW didn't pay us for the bona fide services we provided. Regretfully, we refuse to deal with them at all now.

After dealing with 3 previously horrible services (One being Molina) I found CHPW through the help of of one my Doctors. After switching to it, my life became amazingly more streamlined. They approved every test I needed, they had little to no delay on their response times, and their customer services was top-notch. I have to move out of state and sign up with a different provider and I am very sad to have to let CHPW go. Thank you for your time and service and helping me to achieve a better quality of life over time!

If I could give this business 0 stars I would. I've had to contact them 4 times now because they keep assigning me to a different doctor, after being told I could stay with my PCP. I am on medication, and my refill was set on Saturday. When I tried refilling my prescription, the pharmacy informed me they couldn't fill it because of a physician restriction.

I've been on the same medication for 3 years now. Hopefully they can resolve this issue, as I thought it was already resolved. Clearly it isn't and now I have to wait to get this problem rectified tomorrow. Very frustrating.

I would like to THANK Community Health Plan of Washington for taking great care of me. Several months ago I was visiting family in Texas when I felt ill and ended up at the ER. After several tests the doctor diagnosed me with Bells Palsy. I followed up with my primary care provider once I got back and quickly got me back on the fast track to recovery. All thanks to the quick response of CHPW!

If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. Executives who don't care, middle management stretched way too thin, and a Board of Directors (who also own the plan) that treats this want-to-be health plan as a piggy bank for their own initiatives is a perfect recipe for disaster. If you're looking for health coverage, you can do much better with a real health plan.

Group Health, and Premera Blue Cross are both not-for-profit plans that will serve your well. If you're a doctor - don't bother contracting with them. They can't figure out how to pay claims right and won't devote the resources to doing it either.
