Chautauqua Patrons Insurance Company traces its roots to 1877. At that time, the company was known as the "Patrons Fire Relief Association". It was formed when farm families, belonging to the fraternal organization called "The Order of Patrons Husbandry", banded together for the purpose of providing insurance against loss by fire of farm related property.

Terrible coverage and terrible service. We had a flood in our vacation home due to a part failing in the heating system. This insurance company is refusing to pay because they claim the property is abandoned - it's a vacation home - it's unused 3-4 months out of the year - all of this was forthcoming when we acquired insurance on it! Not one representative has contacted us other then through the mail.
Then to top it all off - we received a notice that they will be cancelling our insurance next month because the property has had material damage! No duh! What's the point of having a property insured if you can ever get them to settle a claim?! I wish we had gone through Geico - We had a flood in the basement of our home and they had a check to us within the week! No problems! Stay away from Chautauqua Patrons - they only want to take your money and abandon you when you actually need help.

I will warn all homeowners, about this company. Had a fire at my first home ever and fought to save my home, reported this claim to the company and was treated like I started the fire, what this is my home are you serious, they paid out and listen to this held back 2500 dollars for something and ask for every dollar spent to repair my home before releasing this money house is restored and more and then they refused to continue my coverage claimed I defaulted on payments then filed a claim with collection for 50 dollars against me hello where is my 2500 money since you refuse to cover me or my property? Spoke with a Beth today and she told me to mail in receipts and she will see if I can get my money.
What I told her you refuse me coverage you can't pocket my money where is this money going and where is it now. They even filed a claim for me that I had no know knowledge of which reflects on my homeowners insurance who got the money I don't know but it shows a claim was filed and paid. Who governs these people who think they can do whatever they feel.
Today I filed a complaint with NY State to see if this business is doing things on record. I beat many in the city have been treated like this. They try to make you feel like you have no win but i have fought bigger cases.
