Prior to moving to Connecticut, I had always needed to shop around for my own car insurance. When I moved from Massachusetts to Connecticut, my insurance rates from my current company went up (laws are different, I guessed) and I wasn't happy with that, so I went looking for another company. Add to the mix that I had just bought a house, so I needed insurance for that, too.

I checked out the insurance companies that I knew about, still wasn't thrilled with the rates. I have friends who live in Connecticut, so I asked around to see what they recommended, and one of them told me that they went through an agency and got their insurance, car and house, that way. I'd never done this before, let alone heard of it, but figured I could give it a try.

As you can guess, the agency recommended was the K L Smith agency. I gave them a call, and spoke to a Mr. Todd Smith, who made an appointment to meet with me. I was a bit skeptical when I went, again, not being used to the idea that you'd go through an agent. I am genuinely glad that I did. There are a lot of different things that effect insurance rates, and Todd was able to explain a lot of it.

With his help, I picked out insurance that suited my needs. He was very down to earth and I found it easy to talk to him. He didn't make me feel dumb for asking my questions, which I sometimes got when I would ask people from the insurance companies directly. I especially like that Todd did not try to sell me something I did not need. He was honest and up front about everything, which kept me with the K L Smith agency. Keeps me to this day.

Last part of my review, I promise. What I appreciate now is that Todd's helpfulness didn't end once I got the insurance. I could always call him up and ask questions. When issues did arise, it was also really nice to have someone who dealt with the insurance company for you. Any accident, or problem, he was right there for me. Car accident, he would be there to help take pictures, help with paperwork. It's really nice, especially when you are already in a stressful situation. In short, I highly recommend the K L Smith agency. It's very much worth it.
