Their customers service are so rude. The representative I spoke to was obviously very annoyed by my request to cancel my policy (because I moved out of the apt) and for the refund for the period that I already moved out. She asked me the same question three times (I said yes in the first attempt but she didn't get it) with a raised voice and "so do you want the email address to send to, YES or NO." I can even sense her annoyance from the line. Thank god that I cancel my policy and the company should seriously think about how to improve its customer service!

Literally a scam. I signed up for this as it was suggested by my apartment. I moved and bought homeowners insurance. This plan auto renewed even though I specifically asked them not to. Its taken from March to today for me to successfully cancel the auto renewal I specifically told them I didn't want. The "customer service" people were extremely condescending, repeatedly told me I couldn't cancel without sending a form with my signature on it (which I sent literally over 20 times) and also their phone line doesn't work.
It just says "sorry. Goodbye." When you call. I would do business with literally anyone else in the world over these people. Horrible horrible experience and is it even a legit company? I seriously don't know if you get anything if you filed a claim considering they don't even have a working phone line.

Experience: Based on my experience this is an outstanding insurance company. Costumer service is top notch. Really inexpensive, had them for the past 2 years. Issue: My apartment complex required us to change "interested party". Contacted eRenters and I was told they couldn't make the change because it was supposed to come from the apartment's office side.
The apartment office said I had to change it manually with eRenters. Then eRenter's rep told me my only choice was to cancel the policy with them and find a new insurance. Seems like a bad business plan to tell your costumers to cancel because you can't at least add another interested party. I'm 100% aware this is not eRenters fault, lady explained to me why they couldn't change it. But you should have an option to add this type of info. I'm not longer an eRenter's costumer because of this.

Go the other way! Used these people for most of the last 10 years. I've never had to file a claim. This is my first time having to. My apartment complex has confirmed stuff was damaged. I filed the claim back in November. I finally received the link to submit information. I've had to call multiple times to finally get the link to submit inventory. They are absolutely terrible. Everything will be fine as long as you don't have to use them. However, if/when that time come it will be a terrible experience.

I want to put no stars! We do not require renters insurance at the community I work at and they still send threatening emails to our residents and future residents that sometimes tricks them into getting a policy. No matter how many times we've reached out to them they will still send them. Very unprofessional and just out to get your money.

It took 3 years to get them to cancel my plan after I moved and no longer needed it. after canceling it online, getting charged the next year, then canceling over the phone, not getting a refund, and then still getting charged the next year. This year I finally got a cancelation confirmation after another call and they would not even refund the full amount they charged. This is a scam, avoid at all costs.

This company still charge me money even if I moved out and cancelled the policy months ago and didn't send me any notification about charge. I have contacted them many times. The response have been always slow and not relevant. It's such tedious process to deal with them. Overall definitely not an ethical company. Please stay away from this company if you don't want to get scammed.

I've been with them for years and it's always been a great experience. My apartment flooded a couple years ago and they handled everything- including a hotel transfer after I was unhappy with the initial one. Just transferred my policy to their sister company and the process was quick and easy. They've been everything I could wish for with an insurance company.

Scammer alert! This is the most unethical company i have ever dealt with. Look at the previous reviews here and on yelp. They will keep charging you even if you have already cancelled your policy and they will NOT refund you your money. They will tell you that they are "processing" your refund but you will never see that refund check. Customer service will tell you they will look in to your profile and call you back but dont expect to hear back from them. So word of advice - make sure you close or change your account number when you cancel your policy.

WARNING.this is a shady company at best. They masquerade as the 'Leasing company" that you leased the apartment from. The return address on their email correspondance is "support@leasingdesk.com". So reading your email quickly, you may assume you're getting email from your apartment leasing company. You most likely are NOT required to purchase eRenterPlan insurance, and if you do a tiny bit of quick research you will see they are 4 to 5 times MORE EXPENSIVE than some other more reputable companies.with LESS COVERAGE.
In my case, they chose a start date for coverage that was TWO WEEKS before I moved into my apartment. When I called to complain they refused to refund that $. Bottom line: this is a SHADY COMPANY and I would AVOID.

I am very dissatisfied with the service and attitude. I paid this company for 2 years for the insurance of the apartment where I live and still living. Regarding the theft from my storage from the safe and secure apartment building, I applied and waited for half a year with no any single notification from them. After I tried to contact the company several times via customer support phone number / email, but unfortunately I lost a lot of time waiting on a call, and every time after I waited on the phone for about an hour or more, they told me that the agents were very busy and asked me to leave a contact number so that they would contact me later.
But alas, not looking at the fact that I left my number several times, no one called me. I decided to wait until the end of the contract in the hope that someone will contact me. So it all happened as i expected, because of the end of the contract, they began to write to me and call me many times, but they didn't answer me about the claim, and they said like they from the sales department and can't help me with this. So they sells them service like a candy, but if the candy turns out to be shit, then I have to enjoy it.

It has been a couple of years since I last heard from this company, until today. They send you an email stating that you have no renters insurance and that you are out of compliance with your lease. My current insurance is with a major insurance company, and the apartment management company is listed on the policy as an additional interest. That means they get a copy of my policy whenever I renew or cancel. I think the way this works is that the management company gets a commission if I sign up for the eRenterPlan. What a scam.

This company is a scam. 1. They will set up auto charge with your acknowledgement and charge you even if you've already moved out. 2. You can only call to cancel your policy but most of time no one will answer you. 3. Someone promised to send a check to refund but no one follow up this promise again. (I already provided move-out letter and anything they need) Update: They solved my problem quickly this time. Hope they can provide customer service email in the future.

These guys are scammers. Typical deal where they auto renewal you policy, by re-charging your credit card without asking. I wanted to tell them not to renew my policy, but they do not make it easy. You have to call them, and they will only talk to you if you want to buy more services. If you say you want to cancel, they hang up without getting any of your information. I have tried several times. These practices shouldn't be acceptable.

They are a total scam! First they auto enroll you so every year they will charge you. But they won't let you cancel unless it's a month in advance. So for a full year you are not allowed to cancel the auto enroll. Further, they broker your deals out to other insurance companies so if you do need to file a claim, you have to communicate to a third party. Total shady scammers!

Terrible company! Customer service is horrible, the managers are even more horrible and UNETHICAL! I'm currently moving and needed to cancel and switch plans. The guy canceled my plan right away although I said I wasn't moving for another month! My car got stolen and I was trying to file a claim for personal items in my car but since the guy canceled my policy before I told him to I can't file a claim. I'm moving to Washington and had erenters as my renters insurance. HAAA not anymore.
This is the most unethical, unprofessional places I've ever felt with. Manager was talking loud over me. Don't waste your money with them. There's better options

Trying to cancel my policy was a disaster. I emailed them about two months before my policy was set to renew, and they told me how cancel my plan. I then sent in the signed cancellation form a month before my policy was set to renew - following the instructions they gave me. No response. When I asked about it, they claimed they didn't get it.
I sent it two more times before anyone decided to respond to me. No apology, no acknowledgement of my frustration. They also charged me an additional payment since they refused to acknowledge my cancellation. I had switched banks a while back and didn't change the one I used for them because MY POLICY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CANCELLED BY THEN. So I got charged an overdraft fee from my bank.

I'm only giving 1 star because their emergency service helped me when my entire apartment building flooded, deeming my unit unlivable. They placed me in a hotel in no time and the claims process was smooth. If I had not had excellent service during that emergency, I'd give them 0 stars if I could. After that situation, I moved a new apartment and their customer service was impossible to work with.
They transfered my policy to my new unit.but then automatically renewed my insurance for that unit without my consent after the lease was up. I then found out six months after that lease ended because I received a bill due for renter's insurance for that address that I no longer lived in! I called them about this and they asked for proof that I was no longer living at that address, so I sent them my written move-out notice and the confirmation by that property manager.
Since then, I've called several times and emailed, I have been told multiple times I'd get a refund in the mail.it has been three months and I still have not received a refund for the policy they renewed for my old unit without my consent.

Don't sign up with this company they provide no support during extreme emergencies. USAA and other companies have made this company look completely useless. Cancel immediately, I don't want to be stuck in another situation were I faced a loss and no support from a company who gets paid monthly for what?

This company has some of the worst customer service that I've encountered. I've worked in the real estate industry & for years have recommended eRenterplan.com to people that needed renters insurance ASAP. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM AGAIN. Here's the situation, I was moving into a new apartment & thought I would sign up with erenter, to make things easy.
When selecting my policy, they offered additional coverage for "pet damage", for an additional monthly fee. The coverage covered if your pet damages the carpet, walls, & a few other scenarios, up to $500. I decided that, since I had a young puppy, this would be ideal, especially since my deductible was $500, I could use the pet damage coverage to take care of anything under $500, what I would have needed to pay if I didn't elect for the additional pet damage coverage.
I transferred into a different apartment, in the same building, when my lease was up & did have some damages to my carpet from my puppy, so I called Erenter. I was transferred to 4 different people who said "they could not access my coverage or policy and could not answer any questions regarding specifics". When I finally got an answer (nearly 45 minutes after being on the phone), I was told that they would need to file a claim, which could go against my future rates, during underwriting, & that I would have to pay my $500 deductible, even though I paid extra towards my policy, each month, to avoid this.
When I mentioned that the website indicated that electing for the additional pet damage coverage, at an additional cost, it gave the impression that the pet damage coverage would not require me to pay the deductible. I then mentioned that I would have not purchased $500 worth of pet damage coverage, for an additional cost each month, if I still had to pay a $500 deductible in order to use it.
The representative (#4) said she understood & knew that the website and sign up process showed the information in a way that was misleading & that it was clarified in the policy (that is mailed 10 days later) and is so many pages, most people wouldn't ready all the way through it. Basically, & have a $500 deductible for claims, I was tricked into paying more each month for $500 worth of coverage for my pet, and given the impression that, if I needed to use it, it wouldn't require my deductible to be paid, that is not the case. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE ERENTERPLAN.COM

If I could give 0 stars I would. My car was broken into in Early September. Betsy was my original agent, but I was transferred to Scott Philipp almost immediately, no big deal. The issues started when I hadn't heard anything from Scott for two weeks. After multiple emails, phone calls, a request to be transferred to a more responsive adjuster (which was ignored) and three weeks time, I threatened to report the company to the Better Business Bureau which is when Scott finally replied and let me know that our policy wouldn't cover the cost of repairing my window, but would cover the cost of everything that was stolen out of my car.
I supplied an excel spreadsheet with everything that was stolen and its price on 9/29 which Scott acknowledged that he had received. I've since updated the spreadsheet once with multiple items that were stolen, I had moved out of my parents house the night before, so there was a lot that was stolen out of my car. It is now October 21and I have still heard NOTHING regarding my claim.
No wonder you can't find the names of the owners anywhere, they obviously don't want to be connected to this scam of a company. BUYER BEWARE IF ANYTHING HAPPENS WHILE YOU ARE INSURED BY THIS COMPANY THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO HELP YOU AND WILL ACTIVELY IGNORE ANY AND ALL COMMUNICATION

The worst. I emailed them. No response. Filled out an online inquiry. & the responded over a week later just to tell me to call a number. I called and was on hold for 10 minutes. Then transferred 3 times. I wanted to change my start date and they said I had to cancel and they would mail me a refund which would take a few weeks, and then they would charge me for the new policy.
Over a two day difference! Then they hung up on me. So now I get to start the whole process agains. Gives me no confidence if I ever have to file a claim (and now seeing the reviews I am even more scared).

Avoid using this company at all. You will never be able to cancel your plan even after you have moved. My next stop is the state board of insurance. They are using COVID as an excuse to not take calls to cancel, but to purchase new insurance plans, they answer on the second ring. Funny how my company is completely capable of taking calls.

Still waiting for them to answer. It's been almost an hour. I wish I had seen these reviews before trying these guys out. They are awful and I am not able to log in to to their website to cancel my plan, and of course they are not answering! I'm sure it doesn't have to do with "high call volume" because it sounds like you don't answer for anyone. Awful company.

UPDATE: I just resolved my issue, thanks to it being forwarded to a nice gentleman named Christopher. He expedited the cancellation process and took care of it for me. He also stated that cancellations CAN be done online after first creating a login. I hope this helps. Thanks This company is full of scammers. If this many people have given them low ratings. RUN! You can't even cancel with this company, even if you do not live at the covered address. I would hate to have needed a claim filed.

This business is TERRIBLE. I have been a customer for 3 years and they seem to have no problem charging my bank account for their overpriced renters insurance. I have tried calling them for a week, (and was put on hold), to cancel my policy before they charged my bank card as I have to move by the end of the month due to my mother and roommate passing from cancer.
I never did speak to a person and today they took money from my bank account and will dispute these and further charges. I will be trying to contact them via e mail If I do not get a response, my money back and a cancelation in 48 hours I will contact my attorney to seek further legal action. I will be writing several more reviews and getting the word out to friends and family to stay away from this company. I wish I could give this less than one star.

Best interaction I've had with an insurance company! I called to get a claim because the apartment I moved into had roaches and I had to throw out my mattress. Although they do not cover living organisms, Saudia was extremely compassionate and directed me toward other resources for my problem. She also encouraged me to follow up with her as my problem is resolved. I'm very happy I at least have an advocate through them.

I want to start initiating class action lawsuits against companies like this. With all of these one star reviews, they must be doing something illegal or, at the very least, something that would make them legally liable for damages. If you'd be open to looking into this with me, then add me as a friend on Yelp and we can start organizing. Original review: This place makes it impossible to cancel. I've moved and they're still charging me for my old address. When you try and call you can't get through and their website doesn't allow you to login and cancel.

I called four business days before my plan's renew date to cancel this plan. The gentleman who answered my phone promised me that he would help me cancel it. But I was still charged one week later. So I called them again, and this time the lady told me that unfortunately I have already been charged and they would refund that amount to my account directly in 7-10 business days. I will wait and update if they will initiate the refund in two weeks. Update: They have directly initiated the refund to my bank account.
