The FAIR Plan is not intended to be competitive with the voluntary insurance marketplace, but instead is tailored to be used as a last resort to obtain basic property insurance. The FAIR Plan offers insurance to users who have been declined coverage by at least three other firms.
Services
Each member of the Indiana FAIR Plan participates in the profits and is liable for the expenses and losses of the Association based on the proportion of each Member's premium written compared to the aggregate premium written determined seperately for the Habitational and Commercial Lines. These proportions are determined using premiums written in the prior calendar year. The Insurer's Report is required to be filed annually and is available electronically once you have logged into the Member Area.
As stated in the By-laws, "Any insurance company or other organization licensed to write and engaged in writing property insurance (including the property insurance components of multi-peril policies) on a direct basis in the State of Indiana may become a member of the Association by applying to the Association for membership.".
The Indiana FAIR Plan services are available to any agent that is licensed to sell property and casualty insurance in the State of Indiana. The FAIR Plan underwrites and issues policies from our office. We use the services of independent inspection companies to obtain interior and exterior inspections.
Using the FAIR Plan's online quote and application system, you can quickly quote and complete an application that will automatically be submitted to our underwriters for review. You can upload photos and other attachments with the application. You will be provided with instructions on how to register. If you have questions about the online quote and application system or need help registering please contact us.
