Parcel Insurance Plan is a third-party shipping insurance provider covering packages in the event that they are lost or damaged while in transit. Packages can be shipped via UPS, FedEx, USPS and other freight or small parcel carriers. Founded in 1966, today thousands of businesses in hundreds of industries throughout the country ship packages insured by PIP.

All policies are underwritten by Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty rated A+ Excellent by A.M. Best. Instead of using the carrier's insurance or declared value, we invite you to choose PIP for your parcel insurance needs.
Services
If you are currently insuring packages with UPS, FedEx, USPS or other small parcel or freight carriers, request a quote to see how much you can save by insuring with PIP. The carriers charge the same shipping insurance rates to everyone. The general public pays the same rate as volume shippers. But business shippers pack better, label better and document their shipments better.
Before you file a claim with PIP, with the exception of USPS claims, we recommend you file a claim with the carrier as soon as possible. Your claim cannot be processed by PIP until PIP receives proof of your claim with your carrier. File a tracer with the carrier without delay when a package is lost or notify the carrier immediately if the package is damaged.
To speak with someone regarding a quote, policy changes/questions, or assistance with your monthly report, locate your state and contact your broker directly. If you have a claim question, contact our claims manager at 877-262-1161 or email claims@pipinsure.com. You can fax your claim to us at 314-692-7598.
A+ Rated Carrier - Fireman's Fund, part of Allianz Group, one of the worlds most admired companies. Thank you for your interest in Parcel Insurance Plan's money saving program. Parcel Insurance Plan (PIP) is a third-party shipping insurance provider offering deeply discounted rates on shipping insurance compared to declared value with UPS, FedEx, USPS, or other carriers.

This should be negative star review but that was not an optoin. I cannot encourage people enough find another insurer as this company continuously moves the goal post in order to get your claim paid. Many other decent options that will actually pay claims;. these people have no backbone! AS YOU SEE BELOW IN PIP'S RESPONSE THEY WANT ME TO ASK A LONG AGO REFUNDED BUYER TO WRITE A LETTER. WHAT INCENTIVE DOES A REFUNDED ANGRY BUYER HAVE TO WRITE A LETTER? WE REFUNDED BUYER AND THE TRACKING CLEARLY SHOWS NO DELIVERY! SCAMMERS!

TERRIBLE SCAMMING THUGS! If you are considering this company you should start running now. We have had terrible luck with very straight forward claims. Their latest hurdle (they constantly move the goal post to make claims harder) is asking shippers to have their buyers write letters long after you have refunded and given the buyer resolution (the 30 day wait period to file is bad enough as no retailer is going to make a buyer wait twice as long as USPS would make you wait) stating that they do not have their item.

This is a great way to make sure insured never get claim as upset buyers who have been given resolution have ZERO interest in writing letters for something they never got. Let my hell and my losses be your lesson to NOT use this company.

Even zero stars aren't enough for this terrible company. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. They are nothing but thieves hiding behind a professional. banner. I have never in my life encountered a more shady company than these people. Lisa Lash, the supposed person in charge is the most smug, entitled and down right rudest person I have ever spoken with. she has zero regard for people losing their hard earned money, and would rather lecture you on fine print technicalities than be a good person and address your case like any considerate human being would. you are better off with no insurance than with these monsters. they'll take your money and do nothing for you. So now I am out my item, hundreds of dollars and the premium I paid them for their bogus insurance. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Another amendment: That's one way to look at it. It's not accurate and you know it, because it says "sales price, " which does not change based on customs declaration accidents. Regardless: this is a company who, when looking at a value that's clearly a mistake and a value that is clearly the sale price, goes with the mistake, doubles down, and accuses you of fraud.

Then they move the goal posts. They're a bad company. They can keep saying it, but like. idk, I don't seem like the only unhappy customer. Actually seems like they're all unhappy. Huh. Additionally, I am entitled per the T&C to the "originally quoted shipping cost." As you can see, it was $17, not $11. How is that also my fault? First addendum, because trying to recover my money is a full time job now: Amended: there is literally nothing in any T&C on ebay about the customs value. I've read them SO MANY TIMES.

I made an honest mistake due to the way ebay automatically itemizes similar items, and I resent the implication of fraud, as I resented it initially when Daniel implied it. Any investigation would indicate that I have never in my life changed the stated value on a customs form; I have deleted lines and summarized the contents, and I guess I missed the value line in this case.

But that is not part of the criteria in the T&C. You should report me to the appropriate authorities if you are concerned about illegal activity rather than use it as an implied threat to get me to behave as you like. That, too, may have criminal implications. Y'all are sleazy even for an insurance company. But. again, literally none of this is in the T&C.

This is all in bad faith. Look at my complaint and then look at all the others. This is the company admitting they're trying to screw me on a technicality. And they don't have to be accountable because while I will no longer be using the shipping program they insure, they're a third party vendor, so they don't suffer any consequences.

For giggles, I have attached the review history of the only positive review. It's all negatives of competitors. That's DEFINITELY not legal, and the FTC frowns on it to the tune of $10,000 per fake review per day. Original review below: Filed claim through ebay's service. Only allowed one claim per tracking number. Amounts are automatically filled in.

Company knows that I am out 5 items, for $100 plus shipping, in one missing box. I received a claim for 1 of those items plus partial shipping. Company knows exactly what I'm out, and the not-so-friendly agent Daniel says there's no way to amend my claim or file a new claim for the other items, and tried to trick me with a red herring about customs forms.

This is apparently an insurance company with no appeals policy. Daniel stopped responding. I'm just trying to get my first ever claim processed correctly, but Daniel seems to be enjoying busting my nuts over less than $100. Please let me amend my claim. Maybe with someone who is not Daniel.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value An absolute joke of company. They scammed me out of my insurance claim, and the claims manager was completely rude and condescending.

It's a scam - they won't pay for a lost package even if the amount is small. Don't even bother insuring with them.

Lisa Lash - I called you several times to discuss and you never called me back-you can use loop holes to not honor insurance but you will continue to have negative reviews posted. I explained that once amazon receives a claim the seller HAS TO REFUND or amazon will refund it and it counts against the seller - this was before your 30 day request - the buyer wont wait 30 days to file a complain they think they will be scammed.

The last note I received was 7 or so day before the day you require which is a technicality and once a buyer receives their money they move on - I tried to contact the buyer half a dozen times and showed you proof and they did not reply - it still shows as unreceived the item and you choose to banter over a $50 claim to someone who has spent tens of thousands - its the principal and I hope you remember all the companies that have gone out of business because they chose technicality over customer service

We were using them for all our daily packages going out USPS(hundreds a week). Basically it became a donation to them as not only do they not cover anything back to you, they will not ever respond. Fill out a form, send a screen shot, and so on and so forth, but they will never respond to a single contact you make. They promise they will but nope, not going to happen.

If you ever need an actual claim, just write it off as filling out the forms, calling and emailing are nothing more than a waste of your time. They will not cover it or respond. Find another insurance for your packages.

I have been using PIP for about 10 years.and have had NO issues whatsoever. Not sure what the other 2 comments were about, but they have always been very communicative and very quick to process claims. Very easy process

I received a reply from Parcel Insurance Plan which was moronic and ludicrous. The package may have movement, but it is going to California, when it was supposed to go to New York City, so therefore it is lost and not delivered to the individual I sent it to and insured it for. So your stupid comment is irrelevant. You are a fraudulent company, and I have taken care of you in another manner.

I advised the buyer to do as you said, they attempted to do so, and there was no option for them to do what you asked. I have provided you with all necessary information and it should not be this difficult to process a claim. The Attorney General's office of Missouri will be contacting you shortly.

After literally spending thousands of dollars on insurance protection, I finally needed to submit a claim. I filed a "lost package" to the USPS in order to have them search for a package, which I did as a courtesy to ensure the package really was lost. It took a long time for the Post Office to respond, but I submitted the overwhelming amount of paperwork to start my claim.

I received a letter that said it was denied, because I was outside their 90 day policy window. They claimed it was because "Stamps.com made them change their policy" and they were rude and unhelpful. I tried to explain I submitted a case to USPS FIRST, in order to not submit a false claim about a lost package. They did not care. I had all the evidence they required, but since on paper I was "14 days late" according to them.

Regardless of their policy, I did this as a courtesy to them in order to find the package before I sent up the alarms. I have all the time stamped case numbers with the USPS to prove it, and no one cared, they kept citing their policy. So, I called Stamps.com to cancel my account, but then I heard Parcel Insurance Plan was lying about their policy, and I was informed by Stamps.com that they did not force the third party to change their policy -- they are simply just hired to handle the claims, but Stamps.com did not stipulate their policy change.

It used to be 180 days, but Parcel Insurance Plan changed it to 90 -- not Stamps.com. It is my recommendation to everyone out there -- do NOT do business with this company. Stamps.com has an option to buy insurance through them directly under the "additional options" button, of which in the few claims I have submitted over the years, I have had ZERO problems.

I recommend no one uses the default insurance provider, which is Parcel Insurance Plan, and only use USPS to get extra insurance (or any other party who cares about paying customers.) I lost $300 on this package. and you'd think after spending the money I have with not a single claims prior to this, there would be some kind of courtesy extended, or customer service in SPEAKING WITH ME instead of lying and blaming another company. A loss I will never take again, as I will not spend another dime with this company.

We've used Parcel Insurance Plan as an additional Insurance on First Class Mail. We sell on eBay & Amazon. Had a item damage and the customer sent a clear printed note stating it was damage. Both Adah Dooley & Lisa D. Lash apparently could not read the note. Seems they want your business, only if they never have to pay any claims. Which somewhat defeats the purpose of insuring an item. We will NOT used them ever again

Deceptive business Practices. Will charge you a Premium based on the amount you insure, then when the package gets lost they make you prove value of the items shipped like that has anything to do with the premium you paid them based on the coverage amount. They owe the coverage you paid for. Complete false advertisements. Bait and switch and use policy to hide from honest business.

People this is the biggest legal scam out there. This company is actually a law firm brown and brown. go figure. You will never get your refund for insurance you paid for. They work tirelessly to make sure your claim is denied. There in no way in the business to honor what you paid for. There professional lawyers who will play games until the sun comes down. Do not purchase or risk the harsh treatment. File BBB to speak your voice. people shall prevail!

Ouch. I have insured hundreds and hundreds of packages using this company with a very small amount of claims in comparison to the amount that I send out. After having to file two claims in one week (One for full amount of $49 and one a PARTIAL of $8.50) I was banned for life. They are owned by eBay which is one of the most fraudulent companies and don't understand how they don't have more lawsuits against them than they do, so I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised. No notice. Nothing in their terms saying "If you have X amount of claims, we drop you" The worst part is that USPS insurance is also a joke.

We've used this provider for a few years now via Ebay. Likely sending over 1000 packages using the service. Recently, without any advance warning, they suspended our ability to use the service. We contacted to find out why this happened. The answer was that we filed too many claims, which seemed odd. I asked for a clarification, of the number we'd filed, and what the percentage of total shipments cut off was.

I was told we had filed 9 claims. And this met their limit. Less than 1% of total shipments. It may be slightly more or less though not by much as the 1000 is an estimate. Seems they want your business, only if they never have to pay any claims. Which somewhat defeats the purpose of insuring an item.
