Absolutely the worst insurance company I've ever worked with! Turn run the other way this company is beyond incompetent. We received a letter stating our homeowners was not going to renew when my husband contacted them right away he was told "You will have to wait we can't shop around until your policy is about to expire" which is not so. You can shop for insurance anytime it's done all the time to help lower rates by millions of people just like you and I.
Normally my husband deals with these things but he got so frustrated he dumped it on me. I called and was told Jean wrote the policies and was very busy. Excuse me I'm the customer and it should not be so difficult to reach your agent! After insisting I was finally connected to Jean who gave me a quote on Friday but she couldn't bind it Friday to call back Monday so I did. Forty minutes on the phone with Jean I've come to the conclusion she doesn't understand her job.
She couldn't figure out how to give me back the same coverage I had she just kept trying different things in her program telling me she could only get close but could not give me what I wanted. And oh by the way the coverage went down deductibles went way up and so did her quote it was over $500 different from Friday to Monday. No I wasn't asking anything crazy.
I live in a 4/3 custom block home and was simply asking for $350,000. coverage. I'd like to meet the person or company that could replace my home for less than that, lumber prices are still up. I also requested Jean only deal with me from that point forward and leave my husband out so that he didn't carry stress from HIG also Jean said sure she understood and would send it all to me then first thing she did was emailed everything to my husband.
What a real piece of work! Not only does she need fired she shouldn't work with people. She totally does whatever she wants regardless of what the customer wants! This is totally unacceptable in the business world however apparently HIG DON'T CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER ONLY THE MONEY THEY CAN STEAL FROM YOU! I shared with HIG just how unhappy I am and have been with them all I got was an I'm sorry you feel that way. Really! So my advice RUN AWAY FROM HIG AS FAST AS YOU CAN! I will be finding a new insurance company! It takes a lot to upset me but Jean managed to push everyone of my hot buttons!

HIG bound the homeowners policy on my new home in late March. I received a cancellation notice early May from American Integrity with no explanation as to why my policy was being canceled. HIG never reached out, so I sent an email 16 May to HIG customer service and Dawn who bound the policy inquiring why the policy was being canceled and to seek help finding alternative insurance.
I received an email back on what was driving the cancellation, but absolutely zero help on finding alternative solutions. The original agent that secured my policy was apparently on vacation with no backup. I emailed again on 20 May with no response. I finally called and spoke to the agent. Rather than guidance on a solution, I got a verbal education on how much of a disaster the Florida homeowners insurance market is, how others are experiencing worse troubles, and that she didn't have time to call the insurance company to ask for an extension because she would've been on hold for "2 hours".
I was seeking alternative insurance options, but apparently there are/were "none". She hung up and I still have not heard back from her. This was Tuesday, 24 May and my policy canceled Friday, 27 May. I decided to call the insurance company directly Tuesday afternoon and got through in 5 minutes. Kudos to American Integrity! They were extremely disappointed to hear about the experience I had with my agent and were beyond helpful.
I was able to resolve both of the issues causing the cancellation within 48 hours, thankful to Riptide Electric and Davis Brothers Heating and Cooling. American Integrity suggested I let the policy cancel and find a new agent since my experience was so poor (and I still met the eligibility criteria after the repairs were complete). I contacted Berlin and Denys.
Charity in their office went above and beyond to get my policy bound Thursday, 26 May so I didn't have a lapse in coverage on my record. She skipped lunch and worked late helping me assemble the documentation needed. Suzanne with American Integrity gave me her direct contact info so she could ensure my application got priority in underwriting before close of business on Thursday to avoid a lapse in coverage. These two ladies worked miracles! Overall, a success story for me and a lesson learned on trusting HIG with my insurance needs.
